Pre InstallationIf you're hosting requires you to have a prefix/suffix and/or create databases from thier administration panel go ahead and create it using the names you need/or would like to use. Some hosting companies also require you to create a user to access the database so go ahead and create a user. Lastly, if your hosting company will not let your user create/delete tables you will need to do this manually, for more info on how to do that visit this how to. InstallationInstalling DL Monitor is very easy, simply follow the 4 steps below to get it up and running.
Using these settings DL Monitor will create the database, and all the tables. It will also create the user you defined to access the DL Monitor program. CleanupYou will need to delete "install" directory from your website, or at the very least rename it. You can also delete the notes directory if you don't plan on reading that stuff anymore as it can be found on this website. Lastly, you can adjust the permissions of the user of your database to only have permissions for this database and no other ones (not everyone will be allowed to do this). This will add a little bit more security should someone figure out a password and username for an administrator account, they will only have access to your database and no other ones. Begin UseNow that your install directory has been removed you can log in using the username and password you defined during setup. Once logged in, go to the control panel, then click 'Update Ip Ranges', then 'Load'. This will load all the ip ranges for countries. If you don't do this step, everything will work fine, except on when it tries to resolve the ips to countries it will say "Unknown". Now that everything is all working and set up you can begin setting up your links, it's pretty easy but for more information you can visit the How To Section. |
