Pre Installation

If you're hosting requires you to have a prefix/suffix and/or create databases from thier administration panel go ahead and create it using the names you need/or would like to use. Some hosting companies also require you to create a user to access the database so go ahead and create a user. Lastly, if your hosting company will not let your user create/delete tables you will need to do this manually, for more info on how to do that visit this how to.

If you don't have these kinds of rules then just make sure that you have the username and password to access mysql.

Installation

Installing DL Monitor is very easy, simply follow the 4 steps below to get it up and running.

1.Upload all the files contained in the zip file to your disired folder.
2.Open your web browser and go to that directory, if you are not automatically taken to the install sub directory, type "install" at the end of your url to begin.
3.Now that we are in the installer page it will check for permissions, you will need to correct any issues with permissions using a ftp utility such as filezilla. Once everything checks out ok, procede to the next page. Click new as the installation type because you have never installed it before. (Note: clicking upgrade will give you all sorts of errors.)
4.

On page 2 you will need to fill out your settings. If you needed to create a user/database in the pre installation section then use those names when filling out the settings. If you skiped the pre installation because you own your own server or your hosting company doesn't enforce those rules then simply fill out what you want things to be named.

* Fill in the database server, this is usually "localhost"
* Put in what you would like the database to be named (again, if you already created it use this name)
* Enter the full url for where you placed the files that were zipped, ex      http://www.mysite.com/dlm
* Next type in your username and password for mysql
* Now enter in the initial username and password to create to access DL Monitor
* Leave 15 for items per page (can be changed later)

Using these settings DL Monitor will create the database, and all the tables. It will also create the user you defined to access the DL Monitor program.

Cleanup

You will need to delete "install" directory from your website, or at the very least rename it. You can also delete the notes directory if you don't plan on reading that stuff anymore as it can be found on this website. Lastly, you can adjust the permissions of the user of your database to only have permissions for this database and no other ones (not everyone will be allowed to do this). This will add a little bit more security should someone figure out a password and username for an administrator account, they will only have access to your database and no other ones.

Begin Use

Now that your install directory has been removed you can log in using the username and password you defined during setup. Once logged in, go to the control panel, then click 'Update Ip Ranges', then 'Load'. This will load all the ip ranges for countries. If you don't do this step, everything will work fine, except on when it tries to resolve the ips to countries it will say "Unknown".

Now that everything is all working and set up you can begin setting up your links, it's pretty easy but for more information you can visit the How To Section.
